I, as part of a cisco networking class, am running a pair of servers. since the servers are only used during one class period of the day, I have them configured to fold 2 smp clients when out of use.

my problem is that the school internet connection through which the servers are connected has an inactivity timeout so that it will require a re-authentication with my username and password.

I want to know if there is a program for linux that will be able to re-authenticate the connection every hour in order to allow folding to continue even when I am not present to baby-sit it.

There may be but I don't think so,your school probably has this in place for a reason server performance,security etc..You'd have to talk to the network admin to change this.My fedora/amahi server would do this(VNC) after a period of inactivity. I had to change it to automatic login,disable session timeout/screensaver and selinux

I know why it's there, I just need something that will open up a channel for ~15 minutes on a regular basis so that f@h can send and receive as necessary. I could even take every 10 hours as it finishes a wu about every 30.

What flavor of linux is being used?Someone in the linux or server forums might have a solution for you.But most likely you'll have to talk to the admin.GL

I'm using the latest build of debian. I'll look around to see if anyone in folding or linux can help me.
