Default Really bad download speeds, help!!

Ok, my download speeds are like really bad, and its always been like this for the 2-3 year we've been at this house. I used to be with BT, but then we switched to sky as a whole package (Phone, TV, Internet) and it is roughly the same. The thing is though, in games it seems to be fine, i dont seem to get much ping and very rarly get lagg. So i decided to look into it and did a few tests.

Here is my speedtest.net result...

As you can see the download speed is extremely low, so then i did a pingtest.net and heres the result...

Here it says my line is A and says internet applications should work great! or something, so i dont get why i have such bad download speed. Does the Line test really mean anything? There are no other things downloading or anything on my PC, and no other computers that were on when i did the test.

Does anyone know of any way i can get this higher or is it just the lines to my house must be really old and losing connection?

Thanks, any help would be really helpful!!

That's nothing my friend. My connection fluctuates so much that I just sent my isp an e-mail out of the frustration.

I think this is my package.. http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/sky...andoptions/mid, but im not too sure. Im sure our allowance was like 50GB or something when we signed up. Even if its 2mb/s, mine is a long way off that even.

The thing is, mine isn't sometimes like this its always like this. Unless yours is always like that, then.....

No mine fluctuates like mad and often my internet is shut off completely at random times for 10 minutes. It's all screwy. I hope my e-mail clarifies that to them. A .10 download rate is laughable and at times my damn upload is higher than my download which is impossible

Ok so i rung sky up today to ask them about it. He tweaked some of the settings and stuff and then told me to stream a youtube video to see how it run. He said that it is much smoother now and i was getting errors before, but now all the errors are gone. My speeds are a little better but he said if he puts it any higher it will be very unreliable, which is not what i want due to the wiring to the house.

He also said that BT HAVE to put fibreoptic cabling to all the exchanges (not directly to our houses), where then it goes through the normal wiring to our houses throughout the country by 2012, which is good news. He said you should get between 10-20 mb/s after that is done.

I mean my speeds are still extremely slow, but it has basically doubled in speeds.

Guess i have to wait until 2012, unless i convice my parents to move house, which i am very close

EDIT: Ohh no my ping has gone up, and my line down to B :S
