Default Best Way to Share 500MB File
I need to send a 500MB file (510, actually) to my sister back at home.

I'm pretty sure my school blocks rapidshare because every time I try to upload the file (using a premium account) it starts the upload, then fails.

I thought about setting up a torrent but is there any way to make it so only she can get it? I don't want this to be public.

Create a private tracker, then email it to her. What torrent download manager do you have?

How do I create a private tracker?

Best way is a hosting service, such as Filefront or Filetube (or whatever it is).
Another possibility would be an FTP between your PC and her PC.

Or another way (extremely slow) is to set up a remote desktop (TeamViewer) and transfer the file from there.

Turn it into a RAR, create the most random password you can think of, upload the RAR as a torrent, tell your sister to download it, give her the password.

I have RARed it. It was originally 580MB.

I'd prefer that it not be online anywhere public.

It's really simple. http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-create-a-torrent/ Just send her the .torrent file.. then delete the torrent when she's done.. Fastest solution..
