Techincally it's legal - it is only files that point to other files.

What do you mean by 'download the TPB index'? Do you want a copy of all the .torrent files on the site? If so, there's technically nothing illegal about that...

Are there like a lot of viruses and stuff in some of those torrents? I only downloaded one thing from them back in the day, but it was clean! I think you should totally do it, because as others have said, it isn't illegal to just download the index. Even if it was illegal, as Nike would say, "Just Do It!".
