If you're using DHT, that will "slow" your line down too. But, especially if you have slower internet, get used to slow browsing speeds while using torrents.

Ahh interesting. I had a friend who was shut off permenantly after 3 months of warning for exceeding 250gb/month. Last I knew, they were caught PAYING temp employees to fill seats in the FCC's yearly public hearing in 2008. They admitted to paying over 100 people to fill seats and ask no questions. Shame on them. This prevented many people from many communities from voicing the opinion of the public. Sickening.

Hey Canadians: Would someone go to jail in your country over something like that? In the USA, we separate business management/ownership from personal responsibility, unfortunately.

To be honest mate, if you don't know what bridging mode is and how to turn it on, don't attempt this until you do. The instructions should be in the manual for the modem.
You need to enable bridging mode, or turn off DHCP. These both do the same thing (afaik), just some routers do it one way, some do it another way.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like Comcast as a company, but since the FCC ruled they couldn't do mess with the protocol they've instituted the caps, one month they said I had hit 600+gb for the month, which I know is total BS, as I don't really torrent very much at all. Mostly just to demo something before I buy it, hypothetically.

In the last 3 years companys have really gone ape **** over Digital technology. Digital is the new term in the mass media to make us pay more for the same technology we have be using cheaply for the past 20 years! 250gig caps, $30 phone data plans, $20 unlimited test messaging. I remember 10 years ago when I was in college Internet speeds were exactly the same 1.4mb/sec and it was $19.99. Cell phones came with free internet access (given, it's not exactly the same as today's) but it was enough to check movie times, min's used, weather, exc.. Hell, Text was basicly free, and I dosen't even take up bandwith on an IP segment. It uses the same narrow frequency cell phones use to indicate cellular reception strength..

Companys have gotten out of controle, We have IPv6, Network traffic is not even close to 90% utilization, speeds & internet topology are the same as they were 5 years ago, And we pay 5 times as much!
