Default dgl 4500 HELP!

Last night I tried updating the firmware to use the shareport utility and now my router seems to be useless. I am not sure if it is directly the router or my isp. I live in an apt and the isp makes us register devices (such as my router), and they have my router as a device. The problem is, when I have the internet connected to the router (I dont have control over a modem, its just a wall port) I cannot access the router at all to configure it. When I unplug the ethernet cable from the router I am able to access the router config.

It seems like my router is stuck trying to reset itself, if that makes any sense. Internet access comes in chops through the router. I might be able to open my homepage, but that is after a long period of what seems like the router resetting itself.

Any ideas before I do something stupid like going to buy a new one right now.

My suggestion: hit it with a hammer.

We use one of those at my house, and my Dad's work used one as well.

They are the biggest pieces of junk ever!

When configuring them you have to reset the damn thing so many times!

Yeah, I am doubtful that I would buy another one today..

Nothing too spectacular, but hell I'd rather not have to buy a new router =\
