I have my Trendnet wireless N router about 35 feet from my computer. I bought an Encore wireless N card due to the price and decent reviews it received. Well it is awful. My laptop (which is only G) gets full 5 bar connection while my PC only gets 2 right beside of it. The download speeds are pretty awful compared to on my laptop also. So I would imagine this wireless card is just junk.
__________________Can anyone recommend a good wireless N card that won't give me these problems? There is virtually no EMI between me and the router, only walls. And like I said, my G laptop gets perfect signal while my PC with N gets horrible signal. I typically hook up my ethernet cable while gaming and having that long thing running through the house is annoying..

We got a Rosewell easynet wireless n pci card for my gf's build. It's been great so far. I have a g router so speeds for her are limited to 52mbits/s. Her ping is usually a bit lower than mine probably because I use a USB wireless adapter. Best of luck.

i only have 1 wall (room is about 20ft away to) between me and the router and i get at least 80% signal quality, it's best to upgrade the laptop that has a G card to a N card if possible, because mixed networks are not good at all for performance

Is that the encore card on newegg with the highest reviews? I have that and I'm getting very high download speeds compared to my G card. Driver issue maybe?

What drivers are you using for it? Are they the latest? If you go into Windows updates, does it show any updates for your card? Also, could you post some speed tests for the two devices? Speedtest.net

Finally got home from work to try this out. These are results from three tests on speedtest.net
__________________PC via Wireless N: First Test: 5.42Mb/s Download - 2.14Mb/s Upload Second Test: 5.63 DL and 2.04 UL Third Test: 5.48 DL and 2.06 UL Laptop via Wireless G: First Test: 6.25Mb/s Download - 1.94Mb/s Upload Second Test: 6.41 DL and 1.89 UL Third Test: 6.26 DL and 1.96 UL PC via Wire on Motherboard: First Test: 6.26Mb/s DL and 2.04 UL Second Test: 6.72 DL and 1.98 UL Third Test: 5.94 DL and 2.14 UL My connection is supposed to peak at 8Mb/s with Comcast. I checked the driver version on the wireless card and it is up to date. It's disturbing to see the laptop outperforming the wireless N and being so close to the wire speed. Something seems wrong..

I'm getting 7-15MB/s with spikes of 50MB/s download (60k download on speedtest) on my campus with that wireless N card. Here's something you could do: Uninstall driver and let windows install its own driver for it through automatic update.
