Default Weird Downloading Issue

Whenever I download files from Rapidshare, Download.com, or pretty much anywhere.. My downloads seem to pause or freeze randomly, enabling me to manually pause and start them. Which sucks, since I use Google Chrome. But I shouldn't have to be doing this regardless(I'm using FlashGet). Wired connection to my router, and I've never had this problem before. I've reformatted before, and this wasn't an issue. But I recently reformatted, and now it is. Any suggestions of what to try?

Try doing this in Firefox. If it doesn't do it there simple, it's just Chrome acting up, in which case a reinstall should take care of it. If not then the problem is elsewhere.

Try this.

Don't try it with IE as I think Chrome operates within the same 'standards' so it won't make much of a difference.

Sorry, should have mentioned I tried with FireFox too. It freezes, and then I paused then start the download again(do the same thing in FlashGet too). It freezes like every two seconds. ):

I have this issue intermittantly with FF.

Try checking yo internet connection, but then I use wifi and you said wired

Just wait it out... Should fix itself eventually. That's what I do with my issue.

Try clearing the cache and temporary files. I use CCleaner to do this. http://www.ccleaner.com/

I would:

1) Initiate a large download. Say, Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista from Microsoft Download.
2) Open command prompt and initiate a persistent ping to your router (Ping -t <router IP>)
3) Open second command prompt and initiate a persistent ping to your ISP's DNS server

Watch the ping screens and see if the pauses correspond with a pause anywhere on your network connection.

Unlikely, but never know.
