Hello Gentle Folks.
__________________I'd like your help/information on setting up an internet server. The purpose of this server will be streaming. however My question right now for you is: Can the typical server (windows) that is leased, be controlled remotely via a GUI? That is, can you use remote access tools (provided by them as I suppose it would be) to run a windows server, and access its desktop (so as to start/stop applications as one would like?)

Yes. Unless you're looking for very high capacity/volume, you're probably looking for a VPS (virtual private server). If you want a dedicated server you're looking at spending quite a bit, and they also come with remote admin tools.

Depends on the host. Very few offer anything else than remote access to the programs running on the server (like Apache) through a custom WebUI.
Your best bet is to ask the host. Also, please do not bump more than once every 24 hours.

Most VPS hosts I know of offer full remote access (Remote Desktop/SSH, depending on what you get...) so he might want a VPS.

The server I own is full remote access, its no different to my own pc, use remote desktop connection from the accessories folder on the start menu, hit up the password and username and im in, i use mine for 4x TF2 dedi's, also host mIRC and teamspeak off it. Very good value for money, only 200$ UDS a month which I split with a mate, can host servers up to the the bandwidth max which is 10tb i think, which is 20+ servers if i feel inclined to do so.
Im pretty sure it with hostgator, but my mate set it up on his account so I'd have to double check

Could you please check for me? And, do you know of any simmilar packages from other companies? Bandwidth is the important thing in what we're looking for (not storage capacity, or even processing power). Quote:
![]() Thanks Could you reccomend a few? From say 100-150$ List some 200$ as well if you care to ^_^ (its for a ministry). (the plan being to stream video from one of our local computers, to the said server, and have it, with its increased bandwidth, create a relay stream for people to watch) Sounds do-able?
