I have Verizon for my ISP and I would like to start running a Ventrilo server. My router won't allow me to forward ports to my external IP, so I ran an IPconfig to see why. I notice that my IP address is 192.168.1.46, but is really 70.16.81.232, according to whatismyip.com. Should I enable IP routing on my computer? Will that finally allow me to forward my ports and get this thing running? Please help.

I can forward my ports, but they only forward to my internal IP. I wanted to set it up so that others can connect to my Ventrilo server. It won't allow me to forward the ports to my external IP...comes up with an error saying "not in the subnet" or something similar. Any way of fixing this?

As far as the outside world is concerned you are forwarding to your external IP. It is the router's job to make that translation. You have a single external IP (most likely), all computers on your internal network will share that connection/IP. The port forward is designed to route packets coming from the outside to a specific computer inside your network. So if you setup the port-forward in your router to your internal IP people accessing the external IP should still be routed to your pc. If this is not happening there is probably a software firewall interaction blocking the transmission.
