its a nice habit to get into...you run a quick scan for viruses every other day, and run spyware programs once a week or more..takes like 5 minutes and could save you hours in the long run.

You update your definitions daily? I had Norton for some time and it usually stopped them or removed them in time. But always atleast detected them.

Well since everyone is getting that message it might just be false information trying to get you to buy a program, You might not even be at risk. And to remove mssearch.exe prob do this... Check add/remove program..check program files or the program files directory for a folder with that name. Then delete it. If its not there go to start>run>msconfig>startup and see if its listed in the list and uncheck it

hmmm , its not in any of those places, it IS listed under processes in win/tak/magr, but if i remove it, it just immediately starts again.

all programs> startup?

if its loading on startup theres gotta be a .exe or something causing it to. And all startup programs are in the msconfig under startup/services

try checking the hide microsoft services in the services tab and see whats there..i doubt it tho.

maybe a screenshot of the "STARTUP" tab and everything listed? See I only have 4 checked

mssearch is a microsoft program its fine, its not any type of virus/adaware

I bet your comp is fine, download firefox and delete all your temp internet files/cookies to be safe
