Default Powering on a computer remotely
How do I power on a computer on the same lan without leaving my comptuer? It would be in the complete off state and connected via a wireless card. Is this possible? If so how can I do it?

you might have to set up wake up by lan in the bios or something, thats all i can think of...

It's a dell so I don't think it has that. But even if it did... how would I send the command to wake up?

Actually dell workstations are not so bad. It's the desktops where dell really sucks. This thing is a precision 530 with dual 1.7Ghz xenons. Wohoo! lol. Ripping a CD to mp3 uses all of 1 cpu and about half of the second one

It's not possible over wireless. The wired NIC may have "wake on LAN" capability, but you'd have to research it. I have never actually tried the feature though...
