Exclamation Nice to meet you all and Need help with some a computer mod for my friend!

Okay, hi all. I am not that old, I am a youngin. I know enough about computers as that saying I am currently taking an A+ course at my school but will be taking another one with my friend during the summer. Also I am looking for a C++ course. Anyone know any good books that explain C++ for let's say... I guy around 18, thought I am not 18, I am younger than that but thats all you need to know. I don't want to walk into the C++ class and look like a fool. I need some good reading on C++ and one that will help me and give examples for me to do this.

Okay, now my project for my friend. I am willingly to take suggestions, comments and anything other you can help me with.

My thoughts:
A.) I think he should get a AMD antholon at 2.8 GHz then we should overclock it around 3.2 GHz. (Question: What do you guys suggest we use to make sure that my friend doesn't burn up the processor? Like glue, CMOS? Things like that. Fans, etc...)
B.) Can you overclock a video card? Let's say a 9200 Radeon. Can you do that?
C.) Any good suggestions on motherboards that are good for a decent price?
D.) Type of RAM? I would like him to wait on MRAM but I don't know when its coming out... I am thinking just getting him 512 MB of RAM. I know not to get DDR as that I had trouble with them in the past.
E.) Things to make this computer good looking and a cheap case that we can mod with this site we have. But then we want to make sure that it is not going to burn up on us, in that I mean burning up the CPU, etc.

RULES!
1.) Must be under $500 (we have some parts already from my old Dell. Booo!!! I HATE DELLS!!!)
2.) Not to hard.

Thank you for your time.

Sorry, but you aren't going to get an AMD cpu that does 2.8Ghz stock for anywhere below $1200, lol. Maybe a good 64 MIGHT* make it to 2.8Ghz, but... nothing more I can say.

Thanks a lot man. I knew to get him a good heatsink and that I have been looking at newegg.com. Great place for cheap stuff. Also MRAM is a new RAM coming out that is no longer volitile... Meaning that it doesn't lose what you were working on. No more electricty for it. That means like a 2 second boot time because OS will always stay loaded. ^_^

No.. The 2 second boot time will come when MRAM comes out. Its magnetic RAM. Which will keep everything loaded at all times because it never turns off because its like a hard drive. No more on and off switches. Its now used by positive and negative charges.

O yea, I know, I messed up on that 2.8 Ghz processsor. ^_^ We found him a lower one. lol.. We are gonna over clock it.

Thanks all...
