just started into the world of overclocking
__________________i got my 2.8 p4 running at 3.2, but i have a question ? when you increase the speed you have to increase voltage too ? well when i up the voltage to anything higher it reboots sometimes, so i have my voltage on the lowest standard setting and it seems to work fine about 1.5v i thinkbuh byee for now

you have to up the voltage every now and then or else your system won't be stable. raising vcore adds heat, which doubly reinforces the idea of good cooling (<50C load).

Welcome
Max voltage for your cpu is 1.7. Keep uping the fsb until you hit a wall then give it some more voltage.

What core do you have? I have a 2.8 Ghz Northwood and I am running it a 3.5 Ghz with a 1.8 vcore on water.
P.S. Welcome to the forums!

thankyou for the replys, im not running any water cooling etc just 2 side fans blowing in and 1 case fan blowing out the back and a big cpu fan with copper heatsink and heat pipes, the temps are just about ok for this setup (35-40'C IDle and 50'C load), i think ill stick with 3.2 GHZ for now
__________________ but i tryed upping the voltage and it doesnt like it anything above the lowest standard setting and i get reboots, really weird , maybe it need to be faster like 3.5 to take more voltage hmmmmSoaDMTguy i have the northwood too 800mhz fsb standard

WELCOME!!!!
Yes, you will need to increase voltage, and it seems like someone already answered that question. For Northwood : 1.700 V and 55 Degrees Celsius are the limits. For Prescott : 1.600 V and 65 Degrees Celsius are the limits. and that temperature of yours seems quite high..... is your house warm? 2.8 @ 3.2 and that high? I'm believing that it's a Prescott. GLAGH! ![]()
