Default Dont mind the old Jalopee

Its just me and my current computer...

I have been and will continue to lurk around, learning as much as I can and tossing a cent or two when I am able.

I learn fast... and am here on the cutting edge of computing to learn what hardware is going to fit my needs.

(Yes.. I plan on building a beast... yet nothing out is really flipping my lid atm)

I hope my questions are worthy of your answers.

See ya around.

Welcome!! Don't worry about your comp. I used to run a 866mhz PIII, 512mb of PC333 ram, and 16mb AGP 2x graphics card from 1998 - 2005. Was pretty fast too.

Hi

I've got a 10 year old Packard Bell still alive and kicking in my spare bedroom, so don't feel bad about your P4. This thing has a 200Mhz Cyrix CPU, the mobo can't detect anything larger than 64 meg RAM sticks (max 128 megs total), an 8 gig Fujitsu HDD (doesn't recognize anything larger), and it has an ATI Rage PCI graphics card (no AGP slot).

Hey guys thanks for the welcome..

I guess I wont be alone in the antique computer parade .

Speaking of raw power.

I must say.. one of my favorite things about computers is how the performance and price changes over time...

It is scary..

lol

Imagine what $8,000 would get you today... and it would not even be a 1,000th of what $800 will get you tommorow..

Yeah .. Although I am not at all happy with the card..

I would like to shoot it with many bullets... In fact.. It is the only piece of gear on my PC that I feel any hatred for..

All my friends have had the same problems with them.. some of them have had far worse issues then me.. I read about others having the same problems..

And I think it all boils down to arrogance and monopoly... and in the computer fields I think it is most obvious..more so then with any other market segment as pc products come out so fast...

And they all slip eventually..

So yeah to end the rant... I could re-use my xfi card in my new build..

But I probably wont.

Its a pos..
