Default Just some help

HI i'm 100% new to overclocking I was just wondering if anyones knows the max stable settings for the 8400Gs the default is

Core-450
Shader-900
Memory-300

what I have it at right now is

Core-540
Shader-1080
Mem-460

It's been running fine but I was wondering if I could take it higher and not fry the system.IDK if this helps but heres my specs

Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz
Nividia 8400gs
3Gb DDR2
640Gb 7200RPM

all cards are different... you can run ati tool to test for artifacts... its just a case of trial and error to find your max stable OC

What are your temps like ???

right now my card is at 69C and I'm also using rivatuner

when I play R6V2 my card goes up to 81-83c running at 1280x1024 max settings quality level 3

yes,so no more then 81-83c when playing should be my limit for temps?.I also have my case open to let in more air since it's been cold outside lately and I have my window open

I'd say that's is the safe limit, any more and you might damage the components. Have you got a spare desk fan lying around? Because you could get a bit of a ghetto cooling setup going on.

You could. You can put a whole computer in baby oil apart from the hard drive and the optical drive. It works too
