Default DreamEFX introduction...

Hey all,

I'm new here as well as new to the idea of OC'ing a CPU

I just bought the Core i7-860 CPU with 4gigs of GSKILL DDR3 1600MHz RAM.

Also have a thermaltake heatsink/fan which will help keep my CPU a little cooler.

I also bought the Coolermaster Storm Scout case...with an additional 120mm fan. Installed a 650watt antec 80plus PSU. Should keep things cool right?

The motherboard is the ASUS P7P55D LE. It's probably not the best motherboard to help overclock the CPU. However, I'm hoping to get something out of this motherboard. Sorry, I didn't have the $$ to get the nicer motherboards.

The computer itself is assembled but not running. I'm waiting for windows7 to arrive since I pre-ordered it a while back. Once I get that I will install and start to use the new comp.

I'd like to learn more about understanding the BIOS and the settings here. Wish me luck I won't destroy my new baby.

Anyone here who has the same set up and wouldn't mind helping me out is more then welcome!

thanks!

Thanks Killer,

I was beginning to think no one cared hehe

The more I check out this forum and do more research the more I wish I had made a few different choices. Namely my motherboard. Oh well, hopefully I will learn more here and get to show off my humble overclocking stats.

Welcome to OCN!

That rig will be a beast once it's overclocked! If you're going for a maximum OC, you'll probably wanna get a new heat sink and fan.

Thanks everyone!

Everyone here has some pretty kick ass machines. I'm also surprised at how unique everyone's set up is.

if you'd like to see pictures of the new set up go to my flickr site:

You'll notice that I have the ThermalTake silent 1156 CPU cooler fan....once the ThermalTake SpinQ VT comes out I will be replacing it with that.
