Default Hello humans

I've been gaming for years and figure I might as well do it right. The last year I have been using this awesomely ugly Frankenputer made from free cast offs from my buddies' IT jobs. It is literally held together with zip ties!

As good as Frank has been to me it is time to build a real rig, based on i7 and 5870. I want to practice overclocking on this old rig and learn the ins and outs before tweaking my new dream machine.

Thanks ahead of time for all the info.

if you are going to oc it would be wise to upgrade your stock cooling. At least reseat and use some good thermal paste such as artic silver. good luck on your overclocking overtures!

Thanks for the encouragement Voltage. I do have a nice glob (hopefully not too much) of Arctic Silver on there.

Running stable OCd to 2.3 at 43 C. I've read of people pushing this chip up to 3! In fact it was reading that thread that made me join this site.

Good luck w/ the E5200!

Hey, and welcome to OCN, you'll enjoy it here.

Also... don't want to rain on your parade, but: overclocking will be vastly different on your current system than it will for an i7.

With i7 everytime you boot after increasing Vcore, your heart gonna bump loud. You'll be scared ****less because of losing the chip but then again having a stable 4Ghz i7 will make you allright.
