Default Hello Overclockers!

Hey,

I'm quite a rookie over clocker and I'm building an AM3 platform Rig for Christmas and thought I could join here for you guys to guide and help me!

My Rig Specs: (Unbuilt at the moment)

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition 3.1GHz
Geil DDR3 4GB 2110MHz
WDC Caviar Green 1TB 32MB
Onboard HD4200 chipset
LG 22x DVDRW/RAM

At the moment I'm thinking of either the 5770 or the GTX 275 but it's a tricky decision!

Glad to here your thoughts!

You do nto need that crazy ass of ram man. Get some Nice DDR3 1333 or even 1600. That will do it. Also, the GTX275 is more powerful than a 5770 but when you put 2 5770s in xfire, it would kick its ass and shat in its face...

Hoped that help and GL.

Hello and welcome to OCN!

Okay, I've got a concern: It was my thoughts that RAM that fast will not work with the AM3 platform due to its IMC not supporting it, but I'm more of an Intel guy.

I'm sure an AMD guru will come in here soon.

Yeah I Noticed it's more designed for the Intel 1156' But I picked it up for a bargain. Links below for £72!

I'm threating about the frequencies but hopefully once I start up my new rig I can go into BIOS and regulate it down to 1800? But thanks for the warning meticadpa I'll give you feedback on it whether it works or not :P
