Default Room for another one?

Yep..sign me up.
I've always frowned on overclocking....I know, I know. I also never played games. About a month ago I discovered Battlefield 2.........see where this is going?

My CAD machine is now my gaming machine and it isn't quite what I want so I started researching processors and found this site in a Google search and spent the next couple of hours reading.

My rack (wire shelving holding rack mount cases) is currently full so I was leaning toward a SFF but after some research I realized that really isn't what I want either.

I don't have a budget in mind.....that's kinda scary. Certainly not "money is no object" but I generally don't buy yesterday's technology so I know it won't be cheap.

Anyway.....I'm sure I'll be posting questions and will offer any input I can.

Thanks!

Welcome to the most addicting forum on the net (I'm so addicted that I haven't even checked the others out lol) You will find lots of advice on building a ga ming rig here, First most will point you to AMD (my personal preference) then I'd go to suggest 2Gigs of ram because BF2 is such a resource hog, a 7800gtx (256 or 512mb) or a x1800xt. Now with these two different cards and brands you could do two things buy a SLI board (Nvidia's dual gpu technology) or Crossfire (the same thing by ATI) there are many choices for you! lol

Welcome! When I first joined, I was looking at a 500 to 600 dollar budget computer for myself. After reading nonstop for about 3 months, I now have almost all the parts to a not-so-budget $1000 rig!

I even helped my friend build a new rig, and overclock it, having never done it myself before, just from reading here.

Enjoy your stay, and trust me, it will be a long one.

Welcome to the BEST forum, period. I started much the same way...a Dell for business purposes that needed some performance bumps for HL2. Now I am building a custom case with water cooling.

At least you won't ever have to worry about not finding your wallet...since it won't have any $$$ in it you won't need it!
