Default My DS Lite! IT LIVES!!!

Back in February, I opened my DS lite for cleaning (I've done it 10 times before, for dust). I cleaned it, closed the case to put the screws in, and SNAP!! The delicate spring-loaded power switch broke off.

I ordered a replacement power switch in March, installed it by unsoldering the old one and soldering on the new switch to the DSL motherboard. I powered it on, and the screens started 'artifacting'. I did an ace job on soldering, and I looked over the internals over and over again, but couldn't spot anything out of the ordinary. Needless to say, I was like T_T. I put it away, expecting to never play it again.

Well I opened it up tonight, and I realized that there was a long piece of soldering lead sticking out and touching a contact on the DS motherboard. I break the piece off, reassemble it, and Bingo!! It powers on like normal!!/

I feel complete, again, and I have regained my old companion that I take everywhere.

I can't help it. I have to take things apart, analyze them, and figure out how they work. 100% of the forum would agree with me

Yea, I used my DS to play games (duh!), but I used it extensively as a portable web browser, and homebrew running device. It almost never left my side

I learned that some things are just too delicate to fool around with, internally, so I won't open this up again

Sorry, but fixing my DS was almost a fluke. I suggest looking for a DIY guide to fixing whatever your DS has a problem with.

That or selling it on ebay for parts. That's how I bought my power switch!

yea, i think i may have snapped off the volume switch whilst putting it back together then learning that the top screen didnt power on so i had to reopen it, reattach the ribbon cable, and yea. still doesnt work.

prolly just dump it on ebay since its worthless to me now.

congrats on getting your DS working. you should check out "Professor Layton and the Curious Village"

Well, some months ago, me and my mate replaced the touch screen, but did a very poor job, we broke the power switch, and now I have a sucky tcreen and I need a screw driver to slide my power switch.
I need to re open it, and redo the touch screen.

I broke my supercard lite about a month and a half ago.. I've been in utter despair since..

Been passing the time with pokιmon diamond but I miss all my apps and homebrew. I just ordered a CycloDS Evolution from realhotstuff. I love that place. Shipping is great and they have 5% off anything if you google the coupon code.

The Supercard Lite was great in terms of functionality but it's about as durable as a toothpick. Glad to hear your DS is working again, though. I had forgotten how empty my life has become without my DS homebrew.. XD
