R4 is awesome, got mine and an EZ Flash V Slot 2 and it's perfect.

what exactly is the EZ Flash V Slot 2? For GBA games? (because that's what the slot-2 is IIRC)

It's provides extra ram so that the DS can play GBA games via the slot 1 cart.
I have a fat DS so I needed a full size slot 2 cart, there are many more for the Lite. Also the M3 is just an R4 but is updated slower, no other difference.

i thought the M3 could read SDHC cards? It's hard to find non-HC micro SD cards over 2gb.

Hmm, if the M3 REAL is different to the M3 then yes it should read SDHC. I think standard M3 reads only Micro SD.

Some good apps that I found useful and fun are ScummVM DS, SylphAMP, DS HoBro, DPGTools, and the best out of all is DSOrganize. I've tried to fool around with DS Linux, but it was like a foreign language, to me. If you like RPGs then you will definitely want to check out Luminous Arc; Contra 4 is awesome; and the Pheonix Wright series is very entertaining, as well.

If you have a slot 2 carts gba_exploader.nds and lameboy.nds are worth a look, although lameboy.nds doesn't require a slot 2 cart.
Thanks for the info too dskina!
