Default R4ds

Where would I be able to buy the ORIGINAL R4 DS (Revolution) or one that is actually updated? Thanks.

Look for the R4DS III though as that is the only one being updated currently iirc.

I'm sure there are better cards then R4 though but I haven't touched my ds in months.

From what I've read, R4 seems to be the most reliable and runs the most games (both homebrew and licensed).

No.

CycloDS, M3Real, AceKard II

Those are the ones that are on my list at the moment.

You can't discuss pirated games on this forum. If you are using free, open source homebrew then thats fine. But not official games.

It's legal as long as you own it. And, as I understand it, the only way to back it up is through what's called an NDS WiFi Backup Tool, which uploads at 2 Megabits/sec (really slow).

I'm using it for backing up games and playing them off of a flash cart, kay?

Not completely.
Check out the Wikipedia about Rom Images: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROM_image#Legal_status
Yes, I know it isn't the actual laws, but, it states:
Quote:
However, in the U.S. it has been illegal since 1983 for a user to create their own backups of video game ROMs onto other cartridges. This was decided in the court case of Atari v. JS&A. JS&A manufactured a "game backup" device that allowed users to dump their Atari ROMs onto a blank cartridge. JS&A argued that the archival rule allowed for this. The court disagreed, noting that ROM media was not subject to the same volatility as magnetic media (for which the law was created). Thus, not being so relatively vulnerable, ROMs were not applicable under section 17 USC 117(a)(2).
Even if you own the original game.

I could see a backup of a Game Disc, but a backup of a cartridge is absurd.

There are several other places outside of OCN to talk about such things. If you want to learn about it, I would suggest going there and finding them.

For any form of homebrew though, I would recommend getting the cards that I had posted earlier.

I have a AceKard2i

Works great. haven't found a single incompatibility yet. I've had some problems getting some homebrew to work, but that was main because I'm an epic n00b

An Acekard 2i is on it's way to my doorstep soon, within the next week I hope.

Maybe upgrade my Phat DS to a DSi or buy another Lite - undecided.
