Default DS Lite or DSI?

So, as the title reads, I'm looking to buy one or the other. I actually was convinced to buy the DS Lite, but literally found out that there's this new system called the DSI. I have exactly 0 hand held gaming systems, and as you can see, am not too up to date on these types of systems.

So the question is: If you were in my position, which one would you buy? And would you buy one hands-down over the other? I hear the DSI has some advantages and disadvantages, which makes it hard to pick a clear choice for someone getting into the hand held market, if ya know what I mean.

I would get the DSi just because of the SDHC slot.
Oh the possibilities.

DSi, for the SDHC slot like suggested above. Also, the camera is pretty nifty, makes it an interesting device.

DSi because since you have never owned any handheld systems you will have no need for GBA slot.

If all you care about is gaming, then the DS Lite will save you $40. DSi is cool, but has a lot of stuff I have no real intention of using... 2 cameras, a voice recorder, etc. Plus, you lose the GBA slot, so that kinda sucks.

Supposedly you are able to download games wirelessly, but I have been unable to try it as I have been too lazy to ask what the WEP password is at my house.

One thing I like is that the DSi is a matte finish, so fingerprints aren't an issue, unless you fingers are really greasy.

SDHC is cool... but I have like 4 mp3 players which is all I would use it for.

Yeah, that is a good point. IMO the GBA slot (or lack of one) is the make-or-break decision point for many people who are deciding between the DS or DSi.

Totally forgot about that too. It's a pain to keep my black DS Lite clean.

From the posts so far, and from stumbling upon info about it's memory boost and its faster CPU, I may end up going with the DSi.

The strangest news I heard is, from what they're saying, that DSi exclusive games will come in the future to take advantage of that hardware.

But the big question is, will a developer really cut their losses and design a game that cuts out all DS lite users?

EDIT: Thanks for the helpful comments above, +REP for the useful thoughts and opinions and making my choice simpler.

Theres no GBA game slot in the DSI, its also cheaper.

I would go for the DS Lite. Simply because I still play some of my GBA games. Also the camera is probably the most useless thing in the world because its such a low quality camera that you would never want to use it as a practical camera. I would consider a GBA game slot more useful than a SD slot personally. If you want something to organize your life a cell phone is probably more convenient than a DS.

Also all the bigger screens would do is stretch the image of games because non of them are designed for that.

Im sure that you will like the DSI if you get it but I must say that after owning my DS lite for over a year now that it is one solid machine.

I've no idea why. The GBA has no particularly good titles.

I'd prefer not to have one personally, but I have an original DS and three GBA. So meh.
