I'm looking for a way to use a custom controller for some of the classic Nintendo Systems (preferably one controller for all three, or an adapter/switcher of some type to enable same functionality) Not an experienced hacker yet, but figure it has to be possible somehow...
![]() 10 minutes later... ... I'm working on dredging teh interwebs for articles about subject, but if anyone knows a good place to start looking (other than Google, obviously) I would appreciate a link. Thanks. Last edited by Valor's Minion : 05-01-09 at 03:22 PM |

Get a Wii and you can use a classic controller to use!

Hmmm... ...too obvious. Also, I already own the systems on question, but do not intend to buy a wii until the new nintendo appears and they drop the price on the current-gen one.. (There's a word for this, I can't remember if it's "cheap" or "mentally retarded").
![]() Actually, I'm planning on hacking all said systems into one box and using one set of wireless, rechargeable controllers for all three. Just to make life easier, and more fun. (Again, "mentally retarded" comes to mind...) |

I might, but in the meantime, this is probably the major hurdle. I'm starting to think that maybe I should attach a wireless setup to hardware connectors from "real" controllers, and then have it work with the already planned switch to flip between systems... but that's just off the top of my head (butt?). Still looking for info to indicate that that's not going to be a long and murderous endeavor...

Once this semester ends I plan on building wireless NES and SNES controllers that support their original consoles, Wii VC, and USB. I got all the parts I just need to write the code. I'm self taught and don't know very much so it will probably take me a while. Marcan from Team Tweezers and Hackmii sent me some USB code which I am using as a guide.
If I read your OP right you want one controller for everything. I imagine you could use a Wii Classic controller and add a microcontroller to interface with the buttons and output a data stream. Then on the console side have a box with another microcontroller read console signals and output the controller data stream in the format for each console. I think it is entirely possible if someone is determined enough to do it.
