Alright, awhile ago, my brother had the homebrew channel, and he got ocarina of time, got right of those and tried to get ocarina off the shop channel, it gives error 204036, ive read that you fix it by reformatting, but with the saves they have, that is NOT an option

is there any way to fix this?

If you have installed the new updates, it kills any home brew functionality. There is no work around for this for the new update.

The error code could be server side, the game may have been moved or similar. Short of reformatting the drive, there not much else you can do, If you have the new update, grab a 8/4GB SD card and transfer ALL saves over to that, then reformat.

If you have done any Homebrew Modding, there is a homebrew program that can backup any save for a game (ie: Super Smash Bros Brawl, Animal Crossing, etc).

You can try that, and then reformat.
