I just bought a Wii and hooked it up to my LCD HDTV I went to start playing and every time I point the Wiimote at the TV the finger spaz's out. I read that you have to configure the Wii to use on an HDTV but I do that all the time and still nothing. Does anyone know what to do?

Wow, that's helpful.
I've found that unless I'm standing directly in front of the TV, the finger tends to 'spaz out' to use your phrase. Make sure you're not off center, and that your sensor bar is aligned properly, then give it a try.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor bar in the Wii settings. The sensor bar is just a couple of lights placed at a known distance from each other. If it's particularly bright in the room, that can affect cursor movement.
Also, I have wireless rear speakers on my surround sound system. If the transmitter is turned on, sometimes it interferes with the wireless signal for the Wiimote and makes the cursor jittery. Edit: I should mention that it doesn't have anything to do with the type of TV. The Wiimotes don't actually read anything from the TV itself...just the little sensor bar.

tried swapping between top-of-tv and foot-of-tv? (also remember to change that setting in the Wii menu)
for some reason mine always freaks out at the foot of the TV. I don't get it, but hey, up top at least it's out of the way.
