Default New owner of a Wii - Suggestions/Do's n Dont's

My family bought a Wii yesterday. We went all out and bought quite a bit of stuff. Right now we have the Wii sports and snowboarding (with the Wii fit and balance board), 2 gun things that hold the controllers for shooters so we can play COD5, 2 Steering wheels and NFS Undercover. Soon we are going to buy Tiger Woods 10 and probably the motion enhancement that comes out monday/tuesday.

I would like to know what most people have enjoyed with their Wii's. Things like what would you have like to have done or not have done. Any suggestions to us since we just started out.

Mario Kart! Especially with the family. That game is a lot of fun, we link up with my mother in law's house and my parents house and we all just play! Im a big racing game kinda guy, but even the cartoon-like Mario Kart is a lot of fun!!

I also have Mario vs Sonic at the Olympic Games.. Thats a lot of fun with the family as well. You get to do a lot of events like running, swimming, all track n field. It gives you a workout too.

I like Madden 09 and the games you mentioned...

I thought about Mario Kart but we chose NFS. I was hoping to find some older stuff like Duck Hunt, I hear you can get those.

How do you link the Wii's together?

You can get all the old games on Wiiware, like Super Mario Brothers, Street Fighter etc.

But Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart FTW.

You cant link the Wiis together per say but you can play online in certain games, you either need a wireless router or a Wii LAN adapter.

The Wii gets you on all the little stuff. I remember when I bought mines, I was like this is going to be awesome until I reached the counter.
It's like oh you want to play this game, you're going to have to get some more controllers, or this and that attachment. All in all, I was paying a lot more than $249+tax at the counter .

Games like Mario Kart, and Punch-Out are great family games.

CoD 5 on Wii isn't really CoD 5 imo. The graphics are turned WAYYYY DOWN which hurts the experience IMO.

Yeah our Wii purchase was not the smalled ammount. I am still shocked at how much all that came to be.

My mom and I tried COD5 playing together, but I was disappointed at the game. The controls kinda suck because of how you have to reach up to the A button and D pad with your left hand using the nunchuck.

I have a wireless router, and the Wii should have that connection all set up. I guess you have to buy a browser and such.

Yep, you need Wiipoints to get the browser. You can get the points from any game shop, amazon etc.

You can also register the cards you get in the wii console and Nintendo published games for star points which you can convert into Wiipoints.

Buy a browser? Nah. Just friend codes. I don't think there are public matches are there? IDK I've never tried to play online with my Aunt's Wii.
