The common key is what homebrewers need to unlock dsi mode on the nintendo dsi.

I really do not understand what this is. Kind of sounds like your asking people to help you Crack a piece of Software.. Which I would bet is against TOS.

But of course, I really do not understand what this is all about so Hopefully i am wrong in that regard.

Sort of, but sort of not I think. They are trying to figure out what enables the DSi mode for running homebrew (games made for free by anybody) games on the DSi. If this is a key that requires a license to use then it may violate the TOS, but if the key is just the correct location of the data or the correct values to allow something to display properly it should be alright. Or it could be a key that doesn't require licensing but was just added to the programming to make creating homebrewed games a pita.
