The R4i works with the DSi, the R4 doesn't. Either should work with the previous two DS's.

like immortalkenny said.

I've heard that the recent r4/r4i may be fakes and not work with the "real" firmware for r4. Also, that the newest update for the dsi, something like firmware 1.4 bricks the r4i.

I would say to get a cyclods or edge if you have the DS. Not sure what would be good for the DSi though.

That's true. There are updates for the DSi firmware, but, the new R4i's will work with them. You can use the normal R4 for NDS and NDS Lite without any problem as I see.

The current R4i are really unstable since they still dont know if they are able to update the firmware on the DSi itself.So i suggest wait a while untill they confirm it works for DSi if your buying for a DSi.Other than that go right ahead if your getting on for a DS Lite or DS
