I would suggest that you start from the original Kingdom Hearts for the PS2 and move on from there.

KH1 and KH2 has more Disney characters involved in the game. The characters from 358/2 has no real reason to get involved with the Disney characters and so you will end up seeing less of them compared to the other Kingdom Hearts game.

You really have to play the first and second to understand where the game is really going. I got hooked on Kingdom Hearts 1 hour into playing it. I am a die-hard fan, I <3 Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days carries on from all the other games, and you play as the Origination which you may/or may not understand unless you play the others (I haven't played 358/2 days myself yet)
