If you've got some cash to spare, go ahead and get the DSi.. well in my opinion. If you're fine with a DS Lite and its simplicity, sure. Only changes I thought that were nice, somewhat were..

1. New, slim looks.. just a bit, as slim as PSP 2000-3000
2. New body, less smudges. (I HATE smudges!)
3. Click on D-Pad and X,Y,A,B buttons.
4. Organized DSi menu? < I like it.
5. Fun with your own looks lmao.

The way I see it, you got it for free. That in itself makes it better, at least somewhat. Who cares about the color? You could always paint it or get one of those sleeves or covers or whatever for it.
IMO, at least right now the DSi doesn't have much going for it. I mean if there was more/better downloadable games for it, the camera didn't suck, the battery life was better than a Lite, etc. I might consider it.

DS2 is coming soon with Tegra, don't bother buying dead hardware (DSi). It won't reach its potential.

Seeing as there has been no announcement as to when the DS2 is possibly coming out, you can't really make that claim. For all we know, it could be 2013 when it comes out.
