Default 8600gts

I recently acquired a BFG 8600gts oc for my pc

I was wondering what temperature other people's cards were running at.

I live in Houston Texas and the temperature in side my case is usually around the same temperature outside.

It has been running hotter since I got the new card i checked and apparently it runs idle at 51 degrees C with stock over clocking

The card runs fine, I'm just wondering if this is the norm

That seems about right where mine runs at idle and when i'm workin it hard it reached like 90c I've read alot about these cards lately and that is about where everyone says they run and it is just fine. Hope this helps

These cards are absolutely amazing, they are incredibily underrated... My EVGA (non-OC'd) 8600GTS runs at 40C idle and 65C load, thats with stock cooling.

Thanks, I was just a little curious about the 25 degree temperature difference between the gpu and the rest of the case

Well the gpu is where all the action takes place so it gets very hot right there. The rest of your case doesn't have all that much power concentrated on one spot like the gpu does. I hope that helps.
