Default 8800gtx temp too high????

in 3dmark06 i get up to 81c

idle is at 67c

is that right???

the card is not overclocked, except for the factory overclock

My GTS gets about 65C idle and 75C load...I would guess 80-85C is as high as it should go

I've heard they can go up to about 90C without any problems... I put on a Thermalright HR-03 Plus on my 8800GTX in my new rig (that I'm currently setting up at the moment). It's supposed to drop temps drastically (especially with a Vantec Tornado fan hooked up to it). As soon as I get everything up and running I'll post some temps and the whatnot...

Until then, here is a link to temp readings from a review by OCIA.

Edit: You may want to hold off with this cooler unless you are sure it won't void your warranty (or don't care)... I'm fairly sure it doesn't void EVGA's warranty for RMA's as long as you put the stock cooler back on before sending it back to them - In any case I'd check to make sure.
