Default 6600/6600gt

What are the real differences between these cards..and is there a huge advantage with the GT? Can the 6600 be flashed to a 6600GT(that is what I heard at least )?

I don't think a 6600 can be flashed to a GT...and yeas, the GT is much better. I think you would dissappoint yourself if you got the regular 6600 instead.

who cares! a single 6600GT will outperform 6600's in SLI and its only 20$ more.

Some 6600 cards support sli. Refer to the spec for the ones your interested in. 6600GT much better than a 6600. Cant flash a 6600 to a gt. Also, a 6600GT 128mb is still faster/better than a 6600 256mb.

If you are looking at going to SLI straight away with 66GT's then I would spend a few dollars more and get a 6800GT and then later on upgrade to a 2nd 6800GT, overall you'll get better performance from this configuration.

However, if it is a budget thing, then a single 66GT first is a great option and they do really perform well, there are some good ones... of course I prefer the Winfast PX6600GT... personal choice and availability etc....

Exclamation

now for a reply from someone who actually owns a 6600 non gt, i would say go for the GT but if money is an issue and u do some good searching u should be able find a 6600 for a lot cheaper than a GT, which is what i did

both cards have 8 pipelines and full dx 9 support

you cant flash a 6600 to a GT but the regular 6600 is probably one of the best overclocking cards on the market

with my OCed 6600 i get 90FPS in the CSS stress test @ 1024x768 with max detail and 6x AA and 16x AF

My setup with a 6600 non-gt and crappy processor:
45,000+ in Aquamark 3
7000+ in 3dMark 03
3000+ in 3dMark 05

great, thanks for all thereplies. Are there anyother really good online stores like Newegg? I'd like to do some pricing.

Italian, those are some pretty good numbers man, they impressed me. I got a 171 on Aquamark05 with my overclocked 520fx! lol

are u planning on getting a 6600gt with your current processor, because that could very well cause a bottle-neck?
