Default 8800GT with Accelero S1 Fanless

As everyone who has a 8800GT knows that the stock cooler SUCKS @zz! I decided to mount my S1 to my 8800GT.

Well the stock cooler is quite, I give it that, but as for cooling it's crape.
Stock Temps
55 idle
89 Load.

At first I thought something was wrong, then I did a check for temps and found out it wasn't me. So I thought it was time to get some better cooling. I decided on the S1, because I had such good luck with it on my 7800GT, I figured what the hell! So here is my findings on it!

41 Idle (Thats a 14 degress diffrence)

63 Load. (Thats a 26 degree diffrence, holy shizzer)

To top it off, its running fanless!!!! Here are the pics!

Fix *** Rigged up some heatsinks to the VR's. Theres a long bracket that comes with the S1, If I had a drimel I could have use that to cut a piece off, and that would have coverd everything. Instead I had some extra heatsinks left over from my S2 for my 7600gs, so I used those instead.

** Updated Using a 120mm CoolerMaster Fan (test fan), with Antec Fan controller: Temp drop is great, cools nice... I enjoy the quiteness of no fan though, Fan conroller set to medium.

Idle temp 33c

Nice took me down from 41c to 33c, 8c degree drop (Not bad, good and chill)

I used 3dmark06 as my load test, so load is not going to give a solid high temp, but gives you a good idea where it sits.

Load temp 41c

Alright thats pretty cool, a 22c drop from 63c, 41c. (that was my idle temp on fanless).

Oh also tested in a new case for better airflow.

Some changes to the case, but loving the quietness! New power supply, and vent fans. Found to get better cooling with a fan on bottom and back rear using fanless heatsinks.

I'm sure I can O'c this pretty well, so I will probably test that sometime in the future. I love this 8800gt, no need to f' with it yet. For now.

I'm sure if I mount a 120 fan theres going to be even a bigger drop! When I find the clips to mount the fan on, I will post my results! I'm very pleased already with the results fanless.

Yup sure is! LOL No SLI for me... Unless there are ribbon cable SLI connectors?
The HR03 is Huge to, but gives you the ability for SLI with no issues.
Oh wait I don't have an SLI board... Thats my next buy

Your voltage regulators need HS as well. I can see there are none currently.

I was wondering about that! I saw that the stock cooler covered that. I got some extra Heatsink fins I might try to attach. Whats risk involved not having them?

Thanks!
