Talking Bought a Zalman FC-ZV9 for my 8800GT

Man the stock cooler on these cards are fugly and what crappy thermal paste. So after getting it installed and having one of the RAM heatsinks fall off because of the stupid fan cord, I finally got it to sit after bending the cord in a way so it doesn't interfere with it.

Stock temps were roughly 50-55C and I think upwards of 75C on load.

Current temps are 38-40C and I'm about to give 3Dmark06 a quick run to see what it jumps too. Update in a few.

So I ran the first 2 tests of 3Dmark06 and the highest it got was 50C. Whether that was truly testing its power, I don't know, but I'm impressed to say the least.

And sorry fellas, I don't own a camera or anything. Or else I'd have tons of pics of my computer in my profile.

I got some incredibly temps with my 8800GT once I had attached my accelero S1 with its 130cfm fan. The temps are in a thread in this cooling section somewhere, but they were 32c idle and 38c load, that's with the 8800 overclocked to 700/1750/2000 core, shader, mem.

Hmm, well nearly 24 hours have gone by since I installed the Zalman and I've noticed idle temps are a lot higher than they were yesterday. It is idling around 45C and doing a quick run of 3Dmark for a load test yeilded a high of 58C.

Do you think I should try reseating it? I don't think that would be the problem because it was a perfect amount and a perfect fit imo. I didn't install the fan controller originally, but after realizing how freaking loud it was, I opted to do so. I keep the fan on low, but even turning it up didn't offer much of a cool down for it.

I'm thinking about turning around the lower fan on my side panel to blow air at the video card, that might give it something to breath with.
