Default 8800GT Cooling wanted Duorb vs Accelero S1

I want to get aftermarket cooling for my 8800GT in order to overclock. I saw that EVGA has that new AKIMBO conversion kit. Might try that. But, if I wanted something else, which would perform better: the Thermaltake DuOrb or the AC Accelero S1 (possibly with either 120mm fan or Turbo Module)? Would the AKIMBO best these two or not? Which would you recommend to me? Thanks.

I just wanna know which is best. I can't afford the TR HR 03 GT. Somethin under $40 or under $35 would be nice.

I actually have an AKIMBO cooler on the way.

I'd recommend that over anything else because if your card model is an EVGA I always prefer sticking with hardware that you plan on "using" with it from the same company.

Also, I like how the cooler has the stock look/feel with the EVGA logo on the side.

In terms of performance, I can assume the HR-03 GT bests all but it's price is a bit too high for you.

I'd be cautious to get the Accelero as it's a fairly old cooler not initially intended for the 8800GT and requires an additional fan you have to purchase and plug into a fan controller - the whole deal.

The AKIMBO comes with an updated BIOS directly from EVGA that changes fan settings etc. so you don't have to worry about it.

And the DuOrb may be capable, but I'm also cautious as it's base, again, wasn't intended for the 8800GT and it's not designed especially for it like the AKIMBO cooler. You'd also need to buy additional RAM sinks.

Also the AKIMBO cooler has a heatsink that mounts on the BACK of the card for enhanced cooling and that works very well with the 780i (and the chipset fan blowing right over it).

The Duorb is built for any card, and as such has mounting methods specifically for this card.

I have the 1.1 volt BIOS soft mod, and at 720 core, I idle at 35-40, and load at a max of 45-50.

there is a new revision of the accelero S1. It's been updated. I have one for my x1900XT. Keeps me around 40C (haven't played with anything on my video card yet, working on max stable OC right now and school work) But it is very good. Don't get the turbo module, get a good 120mm fan instead.

Let me know how it works. It is only $40 (surprisingly). I may get it if I can find it cheaper.

One thing, though. That akimbo cooler looks a lot like the GTS G92 cooler. People are replacing their stock GTS G92 coolers with acceleros and duorbs. Are there any results from anyone on how the AKIMBO cooler performs compared to the accelero and duorb?

I have also had excellent results with the duorbs. Under load at 700/1000/1750 my cards (using rthibl) never exceed 50C each. They idle in the low 30's.
