Default 8800GTS 320 OCing, Really Hot Card!

Hey guys. So I recently swapped 88GTS 320s with a friend of mine, mine being standard with the A2 core revision (bad overclocker) and his being the superclocked with the A3 core revision. With the A2 the highest clock I could get was 621/900, and on the A3 card I can achieve 684/1050.

At these clocks I am running the stock cooler and I believe it is not enough. I hit around 75 Degrees in some games and my card likes to crash (still don't know if its heat or something else, because it only seems to happen when it hits around these temps).

I don't wanna go water and before resorting to buying a new VGA cooler, I was wondering if there was any modifications I could do to help keep this card cool.

*I have already applied AS5 to the GPU and have mounted an extra fan over the shroud opening, but the card still reaches up to 75 degrees.

So any ideas guys?

Yeah, and I've heard these things have hit temps of 90 degrees or higher, but mine likes to crash at 75!

Just download rivatuner and set the fan speed to whatever u feel is right. I do it for 100% on my 2900xt cus i got it oced on stock fan 100mhz. Never gets above 60 C And that is really good for a r600 chip.

Good point, I always have my fan speeds to 100% and it saves me a few degrees

Are you sure it might not be something else? Whenever I think heat might be an issue, I take the side panel off of my case and let a box fan blow directly into it (an effective but ghetto way to cool).

What is the cooling situation with your case fans? Internal/room ambient temp?
