Default Flash to SC from Standard 8800GT

Would it be possible to flash from a standard EVGA 8800GT to a superclocked version? How much will this improve oc'ing potential? I plan to get an AKIMBO cooling kit for the EVGA 8800GT. Would paying a little extra for the superclocked card from the getgo be worth it or should I flash? The website says to flash to the new AKIMBO BIOS, but what would happen if I flash to the SC version instead?

Once, you get the AKIMBO, flash it with AKIMBO because it helps control the fan better.

Yeah, it says flash with AKIMBO, but it gives you options depending on your card: standard, sc, ko, ssc.
