Default eVGA AKIMBO cooler for 8800GT Full Review
Well I just received my new eVGA AKIMBO cooler for my eVGA 8800GT SC 512mb. I am going to do a full review shortly. I will include stock idle temps with the modded BIOS, 1.1vmod applied.

OK here we go.....

The cooler is massive. It seems really well built, seems too much like the stock G92 GTS cooler design. I really like the thought and design put into this, it makes for a great upgrade to us G92 GT users. I however feel a little slated that eVGA didn't include this originally, but oh well, here we are.

I started out with the reference cooler, all tests are done with the 1.1vmod applied, and with the modded AKIMBO BIOS.

STOCK COOLER - 790/1775/1000
62C @ 40% fan speed - IDLE
80C + @ 100% fan speed LOAD

LOAD AKIMBO COOLER - 810/1800/1000
55C @ 40% fan speed - IDLE
43C @ 60% fan speed - IDLE
58C @ 100% fan speed - LOAD Artifact Scanning
STILL TESTING LOAD TEMP

I want to get two of these for my cards. Seems like the AKIMBO is way better at cooling than the stock cooler.
