Default Temperature meassuring

Hello,

As stated in my signature, I am getting two 8800GT's. Now I know that the ones I am getting, do not have a temperature meter nor do they have controleable fans. Which is why I took two VGA coolers, one for each.

But now, if I want to check temperatures manually has anyone got a suggestion on how to do that? Perhaps measure it under the "socket" (haven't got the proper name) of the GPU or is there any other place where I might get more accurate temperatures (laser-dot-temperature-meter at the side of top of the copper plate?)?

Not that I can care much about the exact temperatures but an indication that is not higher or lower then 3 degrees celsius of the actual temperature would be nice. The airflow and the added 120mm fan on each Accelero should do just fine, but for slight overclocking I don't like to throw away 260 euro's for two new cards.

Thank you in advance.

Gr.

Dude I just said, "I know that the ones I am getting, do not have a temperature meter nor do they have controleable fans."

That means; THEY DO NOT have a temperature sensor built in. I might be new to this forum but I am not new to computers

My question: Why don't they have temp sensors?

Yeah, those are usually built into the die I thought.

Because they're cheap ones from Xpert Vision. And I read in the reviews on the sell-page that members (of that computershop) had not been able to get temperature readings. Ofcourse they might be idiots and not know which program to use but I take it that atleast one out of 4 knows what to use?

I figured that since I'm going for Accelero aftermarket coolers anyway that I might as well take the cheapest seeing the only major differences is the controllable fan and the cooler in general.
