Hi there,
I just bought a new heatsink for my processor. But after I install the heatsink , the temperature goes higher than the original heatsink that came with it. ( currently 60- 68 C) I'm using: nvidia 750i motherboard Q9300 processor some normal power supply 510W I have 4 small fans suck in the air, 1 is at the font of casing another one at the top of casing, two more at the side of it. The last one at the back of casing that suck out the air. Can another tell me what's wrong? I install the zalman heatsink according to the manual. Do I put too much thermal grease cause this problem? ![]() |

Too much thermal grease is a VERY common problem, you only need the size of a grain of rice. About this much

hi there,
i recommend, that you take the hsf off and clean of the thermal paste and reset the cpu put a small amount in the middle of the cpu, do not spread it around, the down force of the hsf will evenlly spread it across the cpu, less grease = lower temps ![]()

...and you shouldn't have 4 intake fans and no exaust.

Hi everyone,
First of all, thanks for replying and all your suggestion. I will now take of the heatsink and remove the thermal grease. I try to put 1/4 area of it. I will let you guys after I done it. PS: I put 4/4 of area full of thermal grease no wonder the temperature so high |

The temperature doesn't change much. And my father asking me to NOT put thermal grease, he said it is faster to transfer heat =_= is that true? |

My zalman 9700 came with a small bottle of zalmans liquid thermal compound. It goes on like nail polish. You just dip the brush in and spread a very thin layer all around the cpu. It works great for me. Lowered my cpu temps about 15 degrees.
