Question What is the best VGA cooler for eVGA 9800 GTZ

Hey guys I have an eVGA 9800 GTX and I really liked the ZALMAN VF1000, but I do not know if it fits. I want to make sure that I can get it to work properly before ordering it. If not which VGA coolers do you guys reccommend?

Thanks for your help!

I used a pair of Duorbs on the 8800GT and was quite impressed with them. If you are going to only have one though (with your board obviously), the accelero S with the additional cooling fan or the thermalright hr-03 GT with a good 90mm fan are the two best.

If money is not an issue, get the Thermalright HR 03 GT with a good 92mm fan. You can also mount a 120mm fan http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa..._hr03gt.htm#q4. The Accelero S1 with a Turbo Module also works well.

Thermaltake Duorb is an amazing GPU cooler. Easy to install, comes with all RAM and other heatsinks, and keeps my GPU under 50*C! And is now only $35 !!

That link does not say anything about it being compatible with the 9800GTX I don't understand why none of the VGA coolers say that. Price does not matter to me but are you positive that it will work and that it is not that hard to install?

True. I don't see it compatible with any 98xx series.... However I believe it was released after the 98xx series came out. I would e-mail a Thermaltake representative and ask if is compatible with your card.

Good luck

*EDIT*

Found a link with someone installing it on a 9800GTX: http://forum.ncixus.com/forums/displ...php?p=29308932

the duorb came out before the 9 series did. the 9 series and 8 series have similar mounting holes. in fact a 9800gtx and 8800gts 512mb are virtually identical in layout (big surprise there eh?)

VF1000 is compatable with 9800GTX, and is a very very good cooler. Look at my sig, 8800GTS 512 at 47 load with 846/1997/1101

Yes but you have the 8800 are you sure that it works with the 9800? That is the one that I wanted to get the VF1000, but it does not say it works with 9800 !

I have OC'ed mine stock to test it right now it is at: 777.6 core clock / 1998 shader / 1215 mem clock and it is running at 70C under ATI Tool Load.

I have to test it in a game for a few hours next. I really want to get the VF1000 to get that temperature down to 40-50C so can anyone link me or anything to something that says VF1000 works with 9800GTX??

Also are my settings to high do you think?

I know someone with a 9800gtx who has it on his, and it works. The two cards are very similar in layout, just the 9800gts is a bit longer at the end.
