Default Good Cooler for a 8800GTS?

my idle temp is at 41c and with load i think it gues up 56c or something like that.

whats a good heatsink that i can get for it to bright it down a bit?

should i get the VF1000 or the HR-03?

Those are good temps. No real need for a new cooler.

I thought the stock one on the G92's was actually great at cooling. At 100% that thing moves some air.

Stock cooling is great, but if you want to go aftermarket, I suggest in this order:

Thermalright HR-03 GT
Zalman VF-1000
Artic Cooling Accelero S1
Thermalright DuOrb

All are quality coolers.

the HR-03 Plus doesnt fit on my 8800GTS G92?

im aiming for the Thermalright HR-03 GT since i like how you can mount it both ways.

how can i lap the other side of the heatsink?

The HR-03 Plus is for G80 cards, so it wont fit.

And I'm not sure at all how you would lap the inner side of the sink, maybe working on the edge of a table and having the pipes curl over the edge and under the table? You'd have to be mad careful though.

also the edge of the table is a good idea. i'll get a mirror on that for a smooth surface.

There is absolutely no point in going to an aftermarket cooler for the 8800GTS, the stock cooler is already great.

Those are really low temps, nothing to worry about there.
