Won't the zipties strech over time?

I can't disagree with it being a fun project though.

I can always tighten 'em or redo 'em.

But this is meant to be a temporary mod, but like a lot of temporary things I do, this will probably be more like permanent.

I know exactly what you mean, the reason my NB had 2 120mm fans pointing at it for a few months, just wanted to see if it made a difference.

Great idea though, I have never thought about that before.

Could it be done for the NB? I have some stock heatsinks lying around, and that zalman one. forget the name, looks a bit like a tunnel.

I don't see why not, unless it physically doesn't fit because of your CPU HS.

It may do, the spare zalman has a small footprint, and i have a small waterblock installed allready.

I think i see a summer project emerging (break up from college tomorrow)

Gotta admit, it looks awesome...

I'd be worried about the weight of the cooler and whether or not the fan would cause the card to wobble and break. Other than that, the cooling performance beats that of the standard slot cooler. Ugh* i hate slot coolers...

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular

The useless intel stock coolers has a use after all. Well, they're pretty good if you are able to mount them perfectly, which is slightly hard to do.

I want to join the group. I did something similar awhile back. Here's a recent picture. Load temp went from 89C to 77C.

I did that with an 80mm fan and it dropped temps a lot.
