LOL ALL OF YOU FAIL!
__________________![]() ![]() ![]() Dont harrass me about the bending plastic. Its been working fine with a 300 MHz overclock, 40 idle, 59 load . Idk if it helps, but the heatsinks lapped, and its a 8500GT (512) MSI!

I just added another fan (120mm 78CFM), and now I idle at 38c and load at 51c in 3DMark06.

The 8800gtx has a Ali plate around the core held in place my 9 tiny screws. I simply took that off, and counter sunk 4 screws through it,into the cooler, then screwed in the 9 tiny screws...

What the.....Pr0Chris - i have seen a water cooled 8500GT at work - but not a tower heatsink - nice work - be everyone asks about it when they see it. - Should do it to a 8800GT or something really powerful - would be awesome

fter seeing this thread i thought i would take mine to bits and see what i could do, turns out the only other heatsink i have (akasa evo 33) is too big for the bottom of my case but i might be able to add some fans to my stock sink and get better cooling that way.

Original way to cool. And Pr0Chris owns this thread indeed
__________________![]() Could anyone tell me if some 8-10 year-old AMD/Intel HSF's can cool down the Ati 4870? (70 C at idle) Another thing is that standard CPU heatsinks WILL NOT throw the hot air out of the case which isn't that good for medium ventilated boxes.

And I have a better way to get hot GPU air out of the case, a 120mm fan in between the heatsink and my unused PCI slots. I'm now loading at 52c in 3DMark06 (down from about 78c on the stock cooler). ![]() My load temp has dropped 26c!

It is a simply and great way to remove heat. Heat raises and to also say that your CPU is right above your GPU. I also received a CPU temperature drop.

Still pretty hot from a 7950 GT..
Mine is 40 idle, not much higher under load.
