![]() I was playing cod4 and i notice my graphics card got 20º hotter. What's the best way to cool that down? Should i also cool the processor? Also i was wondering if the game runs smoother when the card is cooled? Any suggestions on coolers? Not playing Games:

What was the temp? Like 75c is pretty normal on a 8600GTS.
You might be able to turn up the fan speed with RivaTuner.

Well, how hot did it get? Anything under 90C you really don't have to worry, and unless you're having a serious case of overheating, you won't see reduced performance. You'd see artifacts (graphical glitches) before the card would start to throttle from temperatures.

As Acoma suggested turn up the fan speed and see if that helps. For a cpu cooler Xigmatek or the Vendetta 2 should do you fine, are you using stock cooling as of now ?

take the side of your case off...if that helps then you need more intake air if it doesn't then try putting a box fan or other external fan up to the open side...if that doesn't help then you need to reseat the HSF on your card. You will see problems if its too hot.

It's about 72ºF in here. I just cleaned everything out. Also applied new thermal paste.

I can't say enough good things about the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev.2.
__________________I have an Inno3D 9600GT. Stock it was running 48C idle and 72C under load (3dMark06, Oblivion Ultra-high). I replaced the poor stock HSF with the S1 and went to 36C idle and 49C load, with no fan at all. Just a great big heat sink. I am blown away. I should also add that this my card is currently OC'd from 650/900 to 740/1025 right now; no notable change in temps. My house is about 4C cooler than summer right now, so slight seasonal difference, but that's it.
