Default XFX 6600GT Fan!

I know this card is old school and what not but i dont play any game lol, the fan on this thing is driving me nuts ive tolerated it for a year or two but i just want a silent PC! I ripped the fan off my old MX400 haha so it was silent. So need a cheap and silent solution?

Also how can i make the noise of my HD go away when it pulses? Some kind of rubber around the fixing screws? The case is rubbish and its attached to thin metal.

Thanks!

RivaTuner does. To fix your HDD problem, either get rubber bumpers or get a Cooler Master Cool Drive 6 or 7 HDD cooler. It has padding and it dampens the noise. I have 2 of my 5 hard drives using them and everything is really quiet. The other 3 have rubber bumpers.

i have a ASUS 6600GT on my old comp, i used Riva Tuner to change the fan speed, worked perfectly. Try using that program.

And getting rid of the sound on the hard drives? I don't think thats possible as its the spinning disk inside making the sound i think. Just keep in mind if you ever make another HD purchase of the WD Caviar Blue line. It has a "whisper quiet" feature making it pretty much silent. Seagate also has some quiet HD's but never really looked up on those so yah.

Just buy a vf-700 for it and call it quits...!!! They are dirt cheap now and will cool the card better, plus you wont even be able to hear it! I had one of these on my old 6800gs and it worked great.
