I put a fan on the back side of my GTX and it helped mostly because of my large north board heat sink dumping so much heat on the back of the vid. card. I had heat sinks thermal taped to the back of my 7950gt and it really helped, drop my temps 15 degrees

Is your 260 a 65nm or 55nm card? I ask because the 55nm card has the vrms in a different location and will not line up correctly to use the heatsinks included with the accelero (or any gtx280 compatible cooler for that matter).

If I were you I would just bump the stock card to 50% fan speed. It's still not obnoxiously loud, and will cool the card plenty... I have mine at 60% and it's audible, but I'm also able to run 730/1500/1125 with no issues.

I just added a Ultra Kaze at 2,100 rpm to the bottom of the case facing towards the fan inlet on the GPU. I am running ATI tool as I type, 710/1460/1025 are my oc's and in 23c abmient I am runnning steady at 49C

I stuck some Noctua NT-H1 on mine instead of the stock crap, and load temp went up from 70 to 72 (10 min Furmark all max). But then again, maybe the ambient temp was higher.

AS5 is dodgy nowadays because it is slightly capacitive - there are better alternatives available.

You can definitely bump your memory up to 1250. Maybe shaders up another strap, although not all 260s can.

Right now, I'm running 711/1533/1169 on my 260 192 core. No problems here with heat and my cable management resembles that of a typical jungle. Idles at 53*C with throttling and 40 fan. Around 77*C with 50 fan with the F@H GPU client, barely audible.

Pretty happy with the temps here.
